Pain Management
At Prominence Treatment Center we understand that there is a difference between chronic pain management and addiction. First and most importantly we listen to all individuals that report pain, and we treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve. We never dismiss people who complain about pain, rather we work together with them to lessen it effects.
Our pain management specialists work with the clients to help them safely and effectively manage their physical and emotional pain. We know that we cannot feel the pain a client is enduring when they arrive at our facility. If they are trying to ease the physical pain and emotional discomfort with an abundance of prescription pills, alcohol and or illegal substances, we will work to tapper them off of their drug of choice and guide them to a manageable solution. Our hope is that individuals can combat their pain in a healthy manner which does not lead to continued addiction problems
Chronic pain is complex and multifaceted. To properly manage pain, a one on one approach is needed. Proper pain management will address the physical aspects of pain and concurrently focus on the psychological characteristics as well.
Individualized Pain Management Services
Because all people have different pain management needs, Prominence Treatment Center employs an individualized treatment program for pain. Research has shown that ongoing chronic pain has a very negative effect on mood and motivation. Our goal is to help individuals separate the physical pain from the psychological effects in order to reduce their stress levels.
Our Individualized Treatment Plan includes:
- A History & Physical Examination
- Medical detox (when needed)
- Pharmacology tests
Individuals with coexisting Addictions may ask
- Will I be able to function without my medication?
- Wont the pain be too overwhelming
- How are you going to help me get over this pain?
These questions are all answered by the treatment staff at Prominence Treatment Center. Our treatment teams work together with individuals to educate them on the outcomes of taking the proper amount of pain medications. Additionally we construct comprehensive treatment and discharge plans to make sure that individuals receive the best care available.
Pain and Addiction
Addiction to pain medication is a common diagnosis seen at Prominence Treatment Center. Some individuals, however, do truly suffer from chronic pain. If pain is chronic and medication is necessary, our doctors will use the fewest and most effective medication possible.
