In a study performed at Stanford University researchers discovered that a strong musical beat can stimulate the brain and in time brainwaves will match the rhythm of the music being played. Slow or more moderate beats were shown to stimulate the part of the brain that is associated with a meditative state or hypnosis. Faster beats were connected to alertness and concentration.

Often in sessions, our therapist will perform live music accompanied by any individual that would like to join while simultaneously playing recorded music in the background. This total setting offers a very therapeutic situation. Most importantly, music offers individuals who struggle with verbal processing, a way to express themselves in a non judgmental environment.
